Diam TCA free corks!

Corks are a fundamental element for cellaring and conserving wine, and there are different types of cork. One that offers specific advantages and benefits is the Diam cork, and it’s been revolutionizing the cork world.

Diam, technologically advanced corks and chao TCA!

A bottle of wine requires oxygen for a correct aging, while also maintaining a hermetic seal to preserve the wine.

Cork has enough permeability and porosity to maintain the bottle’s contents oxygenated, while maintaining external factors out, including anything that could damage the wine. For this to happen, the liquid must be in constant contact with the cork, and maintain it hydrated. This is why it’s imperative that bottles are stored horizontally.

TCA’s Problems

Despite the benefits a cork brings to the conservation of the wine, it can also negatively affect it. This occurs when there’s a substance present in the cork called Trichloroanisole molecule, or TCA, which causes unpleasant aromas and flavors in the wine, what is sometimes referred to as a “corked” wine.

The cork maker Diam has developed a solution to eliminate this problem, creating corks that eliminate the agents that cause these problems in wine, using an advanced technology in a processed called Diamant.

First, the cork is ground and crushed, and is then introduced into a duct where CO2 is injected in a state between liquid and gas, and that draws out the TCA molecules. Next, the CO2 with the undesirable substances is removed, filtered, and recycled, while the purified cork goes to studios to be made into corks.

Controlled evolution

But the solution to the TCA problem isn’t the only advantage or benefit that Diam offers, because it also allows for control over a wine’s evolution, allowing you to choose the degree of permeability according to the wine and the cellaring time.

Homogeneity

Diam ensures the homogeneity among bottles of the same wine, since all of the corks are the same, which would be impossible to guarantee with natural corks.

Conservation of Aromas

Thanks to this cork, the aromas of the wine are preserved, thanks to the precise control of the oxygen.

Hermetic Seal

There’s also an airtight seal that guarantees the absolute absence of leaks, as well as the absence of particles or dust in the wines.
